First Line Manager (FLM) Training Programme

We are pleased to present the First Line Manager (FLM) Training Programme, developed in collaboration with Scottish Engineering. This CPD-accredited course is designed to support new and aspiring line managers in developing the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence required to lead teams effectively in today’s dynamic workplace.

This structured programme contributes 13 hours of recognised Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate confirming their CPD hours, which can be used to support professional growth, performance reviews, and career progression. 

Learning Objectives

Understand the core responsibilities and expectations of a first line manager

Communicate effectively and deliver constructive feedback

Confidently manage absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matter.

Handle courageous conversations with professionalism and empathy

Navigate the legal framework surrounding people management

Apply learning through practical case studies and real-world scenarios

Day 1

  • Section 1: Role of FLM - 1.5 hours
  • Section 2: Absence Management - 2 hours
  • Section 3: Disciplinary - 3 hours 

Day 2

  • Section 4: Grievance - 2 hours
